How Micho Has Remained In Touch With Players During Pandemic

Zambia Chipolopolo coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovich has revealed that he is always monitoring the team’s players despite the Covid19 pandemic.

Micho set up individual training programs for over 50 locally based players who he identified as Zambia National team materials.

Micho believes that the initiative will enable the selected players to remain in shape.

“We were in regular contact with them to emphasise that there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Micho told BBC.

“The players have worked progressively to maintain their fitness levels which will help them when they returned to their respective clubs, practically re-integrating without having lost much fitness.”

Micho says that he is also planning to build a strong team using the youngsters led by Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu. He is also preparing a crop of players that are still “unknown.”

Micho was appointed Zambia coach in February this year on a two-year deal. He came in to replace Sven Vandenbroeck.

Then, Micho was without a job since leaving Egypt’s Zamalek in December 2020. He started his African journey with SC Villa in Uganda in 2001 and has coached Uganda Cranes and Rwanda among other sides.
