Match Preview – Relegation Battle

MYDA FC host fellow struggles Kitara in a crucial StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter in Tororo.

Both newcomers have had rough starts, and sit at the rock bottom without a win after 11 games.

MYDA picked their second point thanks to a 2-2 draw against Wakiso Giants and this will be an extra motivation for a side that will be playing at home.

The Wakiso draw is a game they should have won, leading 2-0 thanks to Lebanese Ahmed Saleh’s brace before the Purple Sharks fought back to level matters through Tom Masiko.

This was Saleh’s first start, since making his debut against BUL at Bugembe previously.

“I was happy that the players showed the right attitude, they played with their hearts out, they had their ambitions, they had their problems but they managed to put those aside. If they can keep the same pace, we expect good results,” said MYDA assistant coach Erisa Madanda.

“According to the morale I have seen in training, we expect good results.”

The club is going through a rough patch at the moment and is struggling to convince players to come to training and matches due to financial constraints, consequently, they arrived at Wakiso game some minutes late.

However, a win against Kitara will be a springboard for what is expected to be their season to forget.

The same can be said of Kitara who has shown the resilience especially against top teams but they end up bottling it away down the stretch.

They were on course for a point against Express last time out before conceding a late penalty.

They squandered a 1-0 lead in the closing stages at Kitende, but they will fancy their chances against a fellow struggler as they feel that they have a better squad in terms of quality in depth.

How To Watch – The encounter will be broadcasts live on Sanyuka TV courtesy of League sponsors StarTimes Uganda.
