My First Goal Brings Back Confidence – Balinya

KCCA FC forward Juma Balinya reiterated that scoring his first goal for the club brings back self confidence.

Balinya who has been struggling since joining KCCA at the start of the season got off the mark in a 3-0 win over Maroons FC as the Kasasiro Boys cruised to the quarter finals of the Uganda Cup on Wednesday.

Balinya came on for Sadat Anaku in the 58th minute and netted the third and final goal for Morley Byekwaso’s side who progressed to the last 8 5-0 on aggregate.

Speaking after the game, the former Police FC and Gor Mahia forward noted that he is now full of confidence after scoring.

“I’ve been looking for that goal to bring back my confidence because I have been struggling with injuries and this is my first time being injury free. Balinya told this website.

“Being my first goal for KCCA FC, it makes me happy and brings back my confidence and scoring touch because I am now a forward and forwards thrive on goals.”

KCCA have punched below their weight so far this season as they sit 4th on the standings, 10 points behind leaders URA FC with just nine games to play.

However, they reached the last 8 of the Uganda Cup and Balinya says they will fight until the end.

“As a team we are still tittle contenders in the Uganda Premier League and the Cup but our main focus is what’s next in line and we will fight until the end.”

Fans and the KCCA technical were full of joy after Balinya scored as testament to their wait for the goal.

Balinya stresses that it was no surprise to see them celebrate as the goal has been coming for a while.

“I have been working hard from injuries to see my fitness levels increase and fellow players have seen me in training and its been coming, that’s why players, coaches and fans celebrated it.”

The forward will be looking forward to doing more of the same in KCCA’s next fixture which is at home to defending champions Vipers SC on Sunday, May 09.
