Relegation Bound MYDA Snatch Draw At UPDF

Tuesday 11th May
Onduparaka 1-0 SC Villa
Bright stars 3-1 Mbarara City
Busoga United 1-1 Wakiso Giants
UPDF 1-1 MYDA

Goalkeeper Osikol Isaac’s heroic saves ensured MYDA FC earned a point away to UPDF FC at Bombo Barracks Military stadium on Tuesday.

UPDF were put in front by Defender Vuni Joseph’s well timed header to score his first league goal of the season before Ex-KCCA defender Musamali Paul equalised for the visitors after Substitute Mutebi Peter beat Vuni Joseph to a lose ball in the area.

The match started with a low tempo as both teams tried to settle in the game.

The best chance of the opening 15 Minutes was wasted by Robert Eseru after he rounded the Goalkeeper Osikol Isaac but he somehow shot wide of the target.

Brian Kalumba had his effort well saved by the Osikol after the forward was set up by Eseru.

As the chances kept coming for the Army side, ZZinda Hussein shot at goal but his effort missed the target.

MYDA had the opportunity to break the deadlock but Amos Kirya couldn’t get past defender Bernard Muwanga after nice interplay with Paul Musamali.

Eseru had another golden opportunity to put the home side in front after out muscling a defender in the box but his tame-far-post shot went wide.

Nothing could separate the two in the first half.

The hosts started second half on high with substitute Brian Kayanja who replaced Eseru, seeing a deflected shot saved after coming off the post.

Kayanja thought he had scored the opener after heading home a ZZinda freekick but he was flagged offside.

As chance were flowing for UPDF, Kalumba Brian set up Charles Ssebutinde but his shot was well blocked before Osikol rose highest to save from a Brian Kayanja free kick.

In the 70th minutes, defender Vuni headed home an Ibrahim Tembo cross to break the deadlock.

Seven minutes later, Musamali equalised for the Visitors fro. Mutebi’s cross.

Osikol again came to the rescue for MYDA as he met ZZinda Hussein free kick at the far post before it crossed the whitewash.

The Goalkeeper made another decent save in the 90th minutes to deny Thembo off a powerful shot and before saving substitute Ezekiel Katende’s the rebound.

UPDF moves to 7th with 33 points from 23 matches while MYDA are 15th after collecting 11 points.
