We want to finish in the Top Five – Hillary Mukundane

Mbarara City FC Captain Hillary Mukundane says that their focus now is to finish in the top five on the Uganda Premier League table.

The Mbarara City skipper made those remarks after his side’s 3-1 victory against Kyetume FC on Wednesday at the Nakisunga Ssaza play grounds.

Mukundane, who was just returning after missing the last three games due to illness, was one of the scorers on the day together with Henry Kitegenyi’s brace.

He scored from a free-kick, for his first goal this season.

Speaking after the final whistle, the Ankole Lions Captain, who was later also named man of the match for his spirited performance, thanked his coach who trusted him on return.

“I’m back as I missed the last games since I wasn’t well. I thank the coach who trusted me, so I had to put up a better performance,” Mukundane stated.

Victory saw Mbarara City move to seventh with 38 points after 27 games played, a result that meant they are out of the relegation dog fight.

With three games to go, the Ankole Lions Captiain says they want to finish in the top five.

“We want to finish in the top five that’s our mission now, we are out of the relegation fight, we want now to finish in the top 5.”

The return of Mukundane is a big boost to the Livingstone Mbabazi coached side as they head in the last three games.

Next up for Mbarara City will be a home game against UPDF FC at Kakyeka Stadium on Tuesday.

The defender was also summoned in the provisional 40-man squad for the Uganda Kobs team to play in Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.
