Uganda Swimming Federation is hopeful of hosting this year’s edition of the CANA Zone III Championships in Kampala this November, according to USF President Moses Mwase.
With uncertainty hovering over the country due to surging Covid19 cases, Mwase is optimistic that situation will be “under control.”
“We intend to host this Championship as per our calendar and we hope that Covid situation will be under control,” Mwasa told The-SportsNation in an exclusive interview.
“We have already notified National Council of Sports (NCS) and remaking arrangements to ensure the event is a success despite the hardships.”
The Federation will also organise the National Championships first sheduled for 3rd-5th of September.
“We are looking at several venues, this will be a selection even for CANA junior and Senior Swimming Championships in october to be in Accra Ghana, the CANA Zone III championships in November and the FINA World short course Championships in Abu Dhabi,”asserts Moses Mwase.
“The Federation will confirm this event by Nuly 2021 with assuarance of summons after all necessary consultations.
“We engage sponsors and partners to enable us host the Event successfully which is key on our Calendar.”
Uganda has won the CANA Zone III Championships once in 2015 and finished 2nd in 2019 in the event that was last hosted in Nairobi (Kenya).
Invitations are also extended to countries from Zone IV like South Africa, Zambia, Namibia among others.
