FUFA To Operate On Constricted Sh25bn Budget

The Federation of Uganda Football Association passed a budget of Sh 25,878,250,000 for the new financial year during the 97th FUFA ordinary General Assembly in Mbale on Saturday.

The budget takes a significant reduction of Sh10,217,503,881 from the Sh36bn for the concluded financial year.

The reduction has been inevitable and it signifies the adverse effects Covid19 has had on the Sports Sector.

The funds will cover 10 departments that include Administration, Competitions, Infrastructure and National teams among others.

The departments, consequently, will receive significant cuts per estimated expenditures.

FUFA said that the budget will be financed with Grants from CAF and FIFA, Government, Sponsorships and others.

Earlier this year, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija said the Government decided to slash the budgets of all ministries to raise billions for Ministry of Healthy due to Covid19.

Sports Minister Hamson Obua later confirmed that 40% was to be slashed on the Sports Envelope that suffered Sh8bn cut last year.

However, FUFA remains optimistic that their Sh10bn from Government will remain ring fenced.

The FUFA Communication department whose projected budget is Sh1.5bn, will however receive Sh488m.

Competitions department takes a cut of about Sh600m while Marketing suffers a drop of about Sh1bn.

Sports Minister Hamson Obua welcomed by FUFA communications director Ahmed Hussein in Mbale for the FUFA AGM.

In the FUFA AGM, the Assembly also recognised football servants Charles Namakhola (former footballer and coach) and Rajab Mohammed Walangalira (former referee and administrator).
