Preview: Police Still in Search for First season Win

Police FC will be targeting their maiden win this season when they host Gaddafi FC on Tuesday.

The Cops have had poor start into this new season as they lost all their six opening games and are currently rock bottom.

However, despite the poor run in the opening six games, they have started grinding out results and have picked two draws in their last two league outings. They drew 0-0 with Mbarara City at home before having the same result against URA FC away from home last week.

Back at home, the Abdallah Mubiru coached side will have all eyes to pick their first three points when they welcome the Soldier Boyz.

Ahead of the contest, Police Captain Tonny Mawejje is optimistic that his side will pick their first three points on Tuesday.

“From the training sessions we have had, everybody shows positivity and we are prepared to have our first three points from this encounter against Gaddafi, its our target to win now.

He added “Now that we have come to understand our problems as a team, we are trying to get back to our winning ways before it is late for us and this is the time now to win.”

Their only worry is the inability of their players to convert the few available chances created. Infact, Police has only scored two goals and conceded nine in the opening fixtures.

Sitted rock bottom with just 2 points, this is Police FC’s best time to pick the needed result at home if they are to avoid relegation this season.

On the other hand, the Visitors will be targeting a return to winning ways having lost to Vipers 3-1 in their last league outing.

Despite loosing to the Venoms, Peter Onen’s charges had picked four points in his first two games as head coach for the Jinja based side. They beat Arua Hill by 1-0 before drawing 1-1 with Bul FC.

Against Police, they face a side that is ambitious of getting off the mark at home and Onen is aware of the threat the Cops pose.

“It is a decisive game for both teams because it will decide whether you remain on the summit of the relegation or you walk out of that zone. So the game will be so demanding and we shall use a tactical approach to see that we overcome the game and it will depend on how both teams have prepared,”

This will be the first Competitive meeting between the two sides given the fact that Gaddafi are new league entrants.
