Buoyant Poloto Nears Return From Ligament Tear

Industrious KCCA FC midfielder Julius Poloto is recovering steadily and feeling confident ahead of the new season.

Poloto, one of the country’s best youngsters, has been out for about 20 weeks (four months and 21 days) since tearing his Meniscus and ligament.

Poloto, born September 1999, has been training separately off the ball at KCCA FC since last week.

“I can’t really tell when and how I got injured but I just started to feel pain and it kept increasing day by day until I went for scan,” Poloto told the-SportsNation.com in an exclusive interview.

His last piece of action was in a Cranes jersey – Uganda beat Kampala Select 4-0 in a regional tour friendly at Lugogo on March 16, 2019.

Then, Uganda was preparing to face Tanzania in their last AFCON qualification encounter.

“It has been so bad in that I have missed very many opportunities and all the goals I had set I have not been able to fulfill them because of the injury.

“I am not fully fine but under rehabilitation which is going well and progressing everyday. I think by end of this month, I will be able to play again.”

Notably, Poloto has missed the chance to be part of the KCCA FC team that won the CECAFA, Uganda Cranes team for the COSAFA and CHAN qualifiers against Somalia.

However, he is still positive to make amends.

“I want to be a better player than I have been in the previous seasons and also see how I can prevent injuries. I just can’t wait to play again.”
