Stanbic Uganda Cup defending champions Proline FC ousted struggling Big league side Katwe United at round of 64.
Proline beat Katwe United 2-1 in a closely contested game played at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.
Mustafa Mujuzi and Hakim Kiwanuka were on target for Proline who virtually played at home.
Michael Lubowa’s early goal proved to be a consolation for the new Big league side.
Leading by a goal, Proline had a couple of chances to bury the game including Habib Kavuma’s chance that l was collected by goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.
Allan Tebusweke’s shot was cleared out by James Begisa as Proline fought for their dear lives.
Dennis Lwetute had two goalscoring opportunities; his header off an Allan tebusweke corner was cleared off the line by James Begisa and he later had his shot go inches wide.
At the stroke of halftime, Katwe united midfielder Billy Nkata had his freekick kept out by Matovu after he was fouled by Rodgers Mato.
New Proline signing Brian Umony almost marked his debut with a goal but had his strike kept away by Katwe goalkeeper Quinton Kasujja who also denied Hamis Kizza.
Seven minutes into the second stanza, Mujuzi equalised for Proline, converting a penalty after forward Umony was shoved in the box.
In the 83rd minute, Kiwanuka handed Proline a lead, finishing off good work from Bright Anukani and Kizza.
Katwe were denied a late equaliser when Saul Ssemwanga’s header off off an Abdul Ssemwogere freekick was kept out by Hassan Matovu.
