Serena 63 Golf Series Return Bigger, Better

Why 63?

63 is the current course record set by Dismas Indiza during the 2019 Uganda Open. Lake Victoria Serena will be offering pricing associated with 63 throughout the tournament.


At the scenic Serena Golf Resort and Spa in Kigo, the Serena 63 Golf Series announced its comeback for another thrilling season, courtesy of I&M Bank and Serena Hotels.

Scheduled to unfold over a 32-week period starting May 25, the tournament beckons golf enthusiasts to engage in a minimum of 24 X 18-hole rounds for eligibility to claim the top prizes.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Victoria at the prestigious Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, known for its breathtaking 18-hole course, the tournament assures an unforgettable experience for players and fans alike.

In a statement to the press, Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at I&M Bank Uganda, expressed eagerness for the tournament’s evolution and its alignment with the bank’s vision of creating shared value for stakeholders, especially golf enthusiasts.

“Our dedication to the growth of golf in Uganda remains steadfast. Having partnered with Serena Hotels last year, we are thrilled to extend our support for yet another season of the Serena 63 golf series,” she started.

“This season holds extra significance for us as I&M Bank as we are commemorate our Golden Jubilee. That’s why we are opening up the tournament to all golfers, as a gesture of gratitude to the golfers because we want to celebrate this with the people who have supported us over the years.”

Moreover, I&M Bank Uganda will extend exclusive invitations to five standout performers to participate in the esteemed I&M Invitational Golf Tournament in Kenya, showcasing their dedication to fostering talent within the sport.

Director of Lake Victoria Serena Golf, Theodor Van Rooyen, emphasized the inclusivity of the tournament, welcoming golfers from all backgrounds.

He underscored the tournament’s namesake, honoring the exceptional course record of 63 set by Dizmas Ndiza in 2019, with various aspects reflecting the significance of the number 63.

The tournament promises not only fierce competition but also an array of attractive prizes, including one-year memberships at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, quarterly accolades based on merit, and themed awards to add an extra layer of excitement.

With the inaugural edition slated to tee off on May 25, Duncan Lewa, the newly appointed General Manager of Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, assured golfers of a warm welcome throughout the series.

Registration has been undergoing since April 1 online and at the pro shop, it will close on May 31st. All participants must provide a valid CDH/ID to enter.

Winners will be announced on November 30, 2024, but there will be quarterly winners of the order of merit as the competition progress.
