Striker Musa Esenu has opened up on his unsuccessful time at KCCA FC.
Esenu, now at BUL FC, joined the Lugogo-based side in September 2018 with much anticipation as the club sought to fill the gap left by Derrick Nsibambi and Muhammad Shaban.
However, the striker who was obtained from Vipers after he was declared as a free agent by FUFA, failed to live as advertised before he was offloaded.
“I was really privileged to have an opportunity of playing for KCCA which is one of the biggest club in Uganda and I knew it was my breakthrough though at times we always don’t dictate our fate so whatever happened was God’s plan,” Esenu told The-SportsNation.
“Fortunately I managed to win some titles with them that season which I appreciate and will always be grateful for working with KCCA.”
In his only season at the club, he was part of the squad that won Super Cup, Startimes Uganda Premier League and the team’s seasonal opener of Phillip Omondi Cup.
On whether he deserved more time to prove his worth at Lugogo, Esenu stated:
“Yes, I really deserved because in the first half of the season I got injured and came back in the second round when we are left with a couple of games and I had to struggle to fit in.
“I never had enough time truth be told but it was for the technical team to decide. I cannot say whether they they never liked me or not maybe my fitness level was still down because I was still from injury. If they never liked me they wouldn’t have signed me because the coach is the final person, it was them to decide. Maybe on his side (Coach) I was not yet fit.”
Esenu dropped in KCCA FC’s pecking order on the attacking line that also had Patrick Kaddu, Mike Mutyaba, Allan Kyambadde not to mention promising youngster Sadat Anaku.
He has also featured for Soana (now Tooro United) and Kirinya Jinja SS (now Busoga United FC).
