Express FC will have their sights set on a place in the last 16 of the Uganda Cup when they host Kyetume at Wankulukuku on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Eagles came into the season eyeing a first trophy since they won the league in 2012.

They are right in the mix for the league as they sit just a point off top spot and a place in the last 16 of the cup greatly improves their chances of winning something at the end of the season.

The first leg ended in a 2-2 draw with Express having to come from behind twice to level matters.

With two precious away goals, the Red Eagles will feel confident they can get the job done but will need to avoid the mistakes they made in Njeru at the start of the week.

“We have been correcting our mistakes from the 2-2 draw away to Kyetume. Said Express head coach Wasswa Bbosa ahead of Saturday’s game.

“We have focused on attacking so that we can score and kill off the game as soon as possible.

“The Uganda Cup is a very important competition in the club’s history. Having won it 10 times, we want to ensure we win it again.

“I am sure the boys will deliver again.”

Express will still have to line-up with midfielder Abel Etrude who is yet to recover from injury. The former SC Villa and Onduparaka workhorse also missed the first leg.

The Red Eagles are also still without long-term absentees Arthur Kiggundu and George Ssenkaba.

Against Kyetume, they are facing a side that is struggling big-time at the moment.

The Slaughters are without victory in their past 12 competitive games and occupy one of the three relegation spots in the league.

The draw earlier in the week must have given them some confidence as they scored two goals, their first and second in seven games.

It was also the first time that Jackson Mayanja was taking charge of the team after replacing Alex Isabirye.

Against Express, they come up against one of the best sides in the country at the moment and will need to perform big if they are to stand any chances of upsetting the odds and reaching the last 16.

However, they will have to do it all minus a couple of first team players. The Slaughters are without Ezra Bida who has been away for a while. Deo Isejja, Steven Kagoda and Safi Mansoor are yet to recover fully from injuries. Mike Fahe is yet to receive a license, Emmanuel Obua is injured, Benon Tahomera is serving a club suspension while Nicholas Kasozi went AWOL.

This will be fourth meeting between the two side with Express winning one of the past three and the other two all ending in draws.

When Kyetume visited Wankulukuku earlier in the season, in the league, the game ended in a goalless draw.
