There were ugly scenes at fulltime as Vipers goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora was given a red card for punching teammate Aziz Kayondo.

With the final whistle gone, in a 4-0 win against Busoga United, Mutombora who had the ball in his hands rushed and punched Kayondo in the head before they were separated.

The two had been exchanging words throughout the game prior to the bizarre scene.

Vipers assistant coach Paul Kiwanuka briefly stated about the matter: “We are yet to find out what really happened, it was beyond our control and we are going to find a solution. The dressing room is still in our hands.”

The incident leaves many questions at the club who still have Shaban Mohammed and Bashir Asiku are still serving internal club bans for indiscipline.

The late incidents mars Vipers victory who remain joint top of the log with URA FC.

Yunus Ssentamu scored a brace, Kayondo and Milton Karisa added one each in a dominant performance.

Busoga United rarely threatened as they succumbed to the fourth loss against Vipers this season – The Venoms won 5-3 in the first round and won both Uganda Cup ties.

Vipers Too Good For Busoga United

Vipers were flawless and could have won by a bigger scoreline on the day.

They got the first in the 21st minute when Kayondo’s cross eluded Busoga United goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa to bulge the net.

The tie was all but over at the start of the second round when Yunus ran free on goal, beat Omedwa before squeezing the ball from the tight angle to double the advantage.

Ssentamu had his brace from the penalty spot after his initial shot was judged to have hit Shafic Nana Kakeeto’s hand.

Substitute Karisa, returning from injury, benefited from Busoga United’s poor concentration at the back to get the fourth on the day.

Karisa missed two more, including when he received from Dissan Galiwango and after a beautiful turn, skewed wide off the mark.

Watambala was also a victim of wasted opportunities, shooting over the bar twice with the goal at his mercy.

Manzoki fired over from close range, Ssentamu had a shot cleared off the line by Kakeeto.

Busoga United Wheels Fall Off

It was a big task to ask Busoga United pick a result at Kitende, against a side that is yet to drop a point at home this season.

However, it was earlier thought that Busoga had learn a thing or two from their three previous losses against the same opponent.

However, they were a flat tire throughout, barely attacked and were a balloon about to burst from minute one.

Omedwa kept the scoreline decent as he came out on many occasions to save the day.

Going forward, they were slow in buildups, struggled to get hold of the ball and looked clueless every time they crossed into the opposition area.

To note, Busoga United ended the game with one corner, coming in the last added minute of the game!

Shaka Ssozi provided the threat with his two shots on target easily collected by Mutombora who was alert to deny Ivan Wani’s low freekick down the stretch.
