Our Substitutions Beat KCCA – Mbowa

Bright stars head coach Baker Mbowa says his two second half substitutes did the damage against KCCA FC on Wednesday.

Mbowa sent on Joseph Janjali, Joseph Akandwanaho, Davis Ssekajja for Ibrahim Kasinde, Emmanuel Loki and Methodius Jungu in the second half as his side stunned KCCA FC in a league game at Lugogo.

Former KCCA FC forward Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo and Akandwanaho scored a goal each for the visitors on an afternoon that almost everything paved out in their favour.

“Our win against KCCA FC wasn’t accidental,” Mbowa stated after the game.

“KCCA FC is a strong team which we gave a lot of respect and prepared well that’s why we got positive results today.

After a normal start, Mbowa introduced both Janjali and Akandwanaho at the start of the second half and the game swung in the visitors favour.

“The difference was in the substitutions I made.

“I started with young lads and brought on Janjali and Akandwanaho and that’s the difference that changed the game.”

Forward Ssekamatte scored the first goal for Brightstars taking his tally to 10 for the season.

Mbowa says its hard work and determination that has seen Kayongo reach double figures.

“Ssekamatte is a hard working guy with discipline.

“You can see he is a senior who listens and that’s why he keeps on scoring.

Bright Stars have been in fine form since the league resumed in April, winning five and drawing one of their six games during that period.

On the good run, Mbowa says it is all about team work.

“What’s behind Bright stars good run is the team work that is all down to the technical team I work with.

Bright stars are now 6th on the Uganda Premier league table with 33 points from 21 games.

They play SC Villa in their next league fixture.
