AFCON Beach Soccer: Uganda All Eyes and Ears On Senegal Vs Tanzania

Uganda will be eagerly waiting for the final result in today’s final AFCON Beach Soccer Group A fixture between hosts Senegal and Tanzania.

To put in into the right peesepective, Uganda are praying for Senegal to beat Tanzania so that the Sand Cranes book a place in the knockout.

After the withdrawal of DR Congo before the start of the competition, Group A is a three-way game with Senegal, Uganda and Tanzania.

The two teams from each group (A & B) at the ongoing tourney in Senegal qualify to the semis.

Uganda have already played their two games – They lost 5-1 to Senegal before recovering to beat Tanzania 4-3 thanks to Isma Kawawulo’s brace and a goal each Ssimbwa Swalley and Emmanuel Alex Wasswa.

That left Uganda in second with three points. Senegal sit top with three with Tanzania are third and bottom with zero point.

To qualify to the next stage, Tanzania who beat Burundi 12-9 on aggregate to book a ticket to Senegal, need nothing but victory.

Unlike debutants Uganda, Tanzania are playing at their second AFCON tourney after finishing seventh in 2018 edition held in Egypt.

If Uganda finishes second in Group A, they will face Mozambique who topped Group B, at the semis.

The competition also acts as the qualification route for African teams to the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Russia; the winners and runners-up qualify.
