Newly elected Uganda Netball federation is seriously considering to line-up more recognized and sanctioned international Friendlies by World Netball for Uganda She Cranes.
UNF President Hon Sarah Babirye Kityo, said having more international friendlies will help Uganda secure the coveted Commonwealth ticket.
“AS Uganda, we need to increase our rankings in order to qualify to the commonwealth games in 2022. To be hosted in Birmingham City, We are in talks with some countries ranked above us”.
“Currently, Uganda is ranked 7th in the world but as you aware, to make it to Commonwealth games we must be ranked among the best twelve nations” Babirye revealed.
She rallied for confidence in her admnistration.
“There is need to have confidence in our leadership that we can deliver and our goal is to be number one Netballing nation in the world and Africa”.
The Ugandan netball team (She Cranes) made their first appearance at Commonwealth Games in 2018 in Australia.
There, the team finished third and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the medals matches, having been beaten by narrow margins against New Zealand and England in the pool stage.
They finished the tournament in sixth place, losing the fifth-place playoff match to South Africa by 11 goals.
