Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan has officially inked his farewell message to Kenyan side AFC Leopard following the expiration of his employment contract.
The custodian has spent a maximum of two seasons with AFC Leopards since joining from Zambian side Kabwe Warriors.
While addressing the club in his written document, Ochan had this to say: “I say goodbye to this magnificent club today and so would like to thank everyone here for helping me become a better player but also feel at home during my time here.”
Ochan had earlier signed a one year contract with Leopards in 2019 before he was convinced to sign an extension in the following year.
“After all these years, I can only say thank you to both the club and fans who have supported me since my first day and probably wish their teammates good luck in their future endeavours,” he added.
It is understood by the SportsNation that the Kenya giants had tried everything in their power to convince Ochan to sign a contract renewal but the player opted not to.
It is believed that his next destination could be a return to Lugogo as a replacement for Charles Lukwago, whose anticipated move to Ethiopian side St.George seems imminent.
Vipers SC and URA FC are the other Uganda Premier League sides to have expressed interest in the goalkeeper.
The arrivals of Jack Komakech and James Alitho to Vipers SC and URA FC respectively might however imply that the deal won’t go through.
He has recently played for SC Villa, SC Victoria University and KCCA FC on three different stints. Ochan has also played for Danish side AGF Aarhus as well as South Africa’s Bloemfontein Celtic
Allan Kateregga, Yakubu Ramathan, Yusuf Ssozi are other Ugandans to have played for AFC leopards.
