UPL Transfers: Hassan Matovu Switches KCCA FC For Bright Stars

Former KCCA FC goalkeeper Hassan Matovu is set to Join Uganda Premier League side Soltilo Bright stars following his departure from Lugogo this particular week.

The new developments were confirmed by his former employers, who indicated that player had agreed personal terms to join the Japanese-owned club.

Matovu, a KCCA Soccer academy graduate, made his departure from Lugogo on Friday September 3rd following the expiry of employment contract.

KCCA have however made it clear that incase of any future local transfer for the player, they hold the right to refusal.

The bottomline being that they as a team have to be consulted in case of any future sale of the player.

Matovu had featured for Proline FC on a two-year loan deal that expired in 2020, thus setting up for an anticipated return to KCCA where he spent most of last season.

While at Proline FC, the shotstopper won the Uganda Cup and FUFA Big League Title in 2019 but also helped the club gain promotion to the Uganda Premier League that season.

In his second season (2019-20), Matovu played six preliminary games for Proline FC in the CAF Confederation Cup and made a good account of himself.

He will be expected to fill the void left by veteran goalkeeper Godwin Buule who recently left the club. This is a thought he was pondering prior to his departure from Lugogo.

He becomes the sixth player to sign for Bright Stars and joins other arrivals like Kyeyune Medi, Fiat Cleophas, Issa Bugembe, Shamuran kamya and Japanese Midfielder Kazuto Kushida.
