NIC Goal Shooter Stella Oyella says that she is aware of Prisons threat as the two Giants prepare to meet in a titanic clash in the East African Netball Championship on Thursday at Kamwokya Community Sports Centre in Kampala.
Oyella will be facing a familiar opponent having featured for Prisons team as well.
The meeting comes at a time after both sides have played three Group A games each.
“The tournament is competitive, as NIC players we have come to work hard to see that we can defend the title,” NIC Captain Oyella said.
“We haven’t got the challenge yet, but more challenges are coming in.
“I don’t want to say much about the game but we are ready to match up with them, it’s all about working hard, being determined. We want to win it.
“They (Prisons) are a strong team, I have played for them, I know they will be targeting me as well. But I will come so ready for them. Am a weapon.”
The battle between the two most successful and feared teams in the region promises to be a thriller.
Prisons are the Record time winners while NIC are the defending Champions.
Oyella has identified Prisons Netball Club as their biggest threat to their title.
Oyella, who also doubles as a JKL Lady Dolphins player in the NBL, added that they are using this tournament to gain experience,, exposure and to remain fit. And we are also working hard for the slots on the National team.”
The Goal Shooter is the leading goal-scorer at the tournament with 142 goals, 24 more than Prisons’ Christine Namulumba.
