Kalangala police have apprehended Luyinda Jackson, a games teacher from St. James Secondary School Kyotera, for his involvement in an impersonation scandal during the USSSA (Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association) qualifiers.

Luyinda stands accused of failing to produce 29-year-old Mubiru Dathan, who was allegedly impersonating Ssekyondwa Wilson, a supposed 16-year-old student of St. James SS Kyotera.

This impersonation, it’s reported, has been ongoing since the commencement of the qualifiers.

According to Hajji Lwebawo Hussien, the USSSA delegate to the Masaka zone, stringent actions are necessary to prevent further incidents of impersonation, citing the National Sports Act of 2023.

James Ofumbi, the USSSA General Secretary for Masaka Zone, has communicated the disqualification of St. James SS Kyotera from the USSSA Masaka Zonal Qualifiers.

The decision is based on the breach of USSSA rules and regulations, particularly Article 7 on eligibility and Article 10 subsection C, addressing impersonation.

St. James Secondary School Kyotera has not only been barred from continuing with their fixtures but has also been instructed to vacate the games village immediately.

Additionally, the school faces a two-year ban from participating in all USSSA U20 Football tournaments.

Furthermore, individual consequences have been meted out as well. The student, Wilson Ssekyondwa, implicated in the impersonation scandal, has been banned from all USSSA organized tournaments.
