Uganda (AFCON) 1-1 Uganda (COSAFA)

The two Uganda Cranes football teams, preparing for Africa Cup of Nations and COSAFA, played to a one all draw in a friendly game at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Allan Kayiwa gave the COSAFA bound team a deserved lead when he headed at near post off Mustafa Kiiza’s corner in the 25th minute.

Patrick Kaddu equalised for the AFCON preliminary squad after a wonderful cutback from Allan Kyambadde to beat U17 goalkeeper Komakech who had replaced Saidi Keni.

The COSAFA team, coached by Abdullah Mubiru, looked the better team with the ball and enjoyed much of the possession especially in the first stanza but failed to execute at the other end.

Express’ Michael Birungi shot wide from Paul Mucureezi’s low assist and Nicholas Kasozi fired direct at Charles Lukwago as the COSAFA bound team imposed dominance against Sebastian Desabre’s charges.

The ‘seniors’ had Patrick Kaddu, Allan Okello and Allan Kyambadde all come close to finding the back of the net, at a game watched by FUFA president Eng Moses Magogo.
