Sseninde Women Tourney: Tanzania’s Kinondoni Placed In Pool B

Pool for 2019 Sseninde Women Development Cup:

Group A: Youth Sports Uganda, St Mary’s Vocational, Kigezi, Mbarara Junior

Group B: Kisoro Junior, Mbarara Soccer Academy, Kira Girls Soccer Academy, Kinondoni

Tanzania’s Kinondoni have been placed in Pool B of this year’s Sseninde Women’s Development football cup. The side, will be the first to non Ugandan team to take part in the tourney.

The draws were held on Friday morning under the stewardship of Jean Sseninde, Ambassador Ruth Aturo, selected players and journalists at a brief function held at Villa Park in Nsambya, Kampala.

“We hope to have a successful tournament,” Jean Sseninde told the press. “The gals are very talented and ready to showcase what they have. This tourney is about giving them chances. And hope they can lead us to the world cup any day.”

This will be the fourth edition of the tourney, and will go underway on August 24 at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara.

World football governing body, FIFA, will also be represented by Sarai Baremani who is the Chief for women’s football.

Lydia Nsekera, former Burundi Football federation was the guest of honour last year when Luwero’s Talented platform edged Mukono community to clinch the third edition.

Iganga’s Mwonda Foundation were champions in 2017 while Entebbe’s Taggy High school scooped the bragging rights for the first edition which was held in 2016 at Villa park.
