Silverbacks and former City Oilers guard Josh Johnson is set to return ‘home’ despite interests from local clubs.

Many clubs including Warriors have showed interests to acquire Josh ahead of the forthcoming 2020 National Basketball League.

The guard became a free agent after he was released by City Oilers after helping the club to its seventh straight league title at the end of the season.

“I still have a patient in hospital, I shall be heading back to London after this,” the bearded Josh told The-SportsNation before adding that it costs him financially to stay in Uganda.

On getting released by Oilers, he added: “My time in Uganda had come to and end.”

It is said that he held talks with the Kyambogo based Warriors but the deal fell through after the club failed to meet his lofty demands.

Big money spenders JKL Dolphins who have dominated the market, were said to be in contention as well.

“Warrioes were the first team I played for in Uganda, If I decide to stay, I will sign for them, I would love the challenge.”

He spoke about the dilapidated courts in the country, highlighting how they lead to body breakdown of players.

Josh averaged 20 minutes per game for Oilers last season, averaging five points, three rebounds and as many assists.
