Barefoot St Joseph Vumba was the main highlight as the netball national rally kicked off in Kiboga.
The Kyankwanzi based traditional school team which also played without uniforms, put up strong performances but lost both their games to St Mary’s Kitende C 31-9 and to A 49-9.
St Joseph is a government aided school and it is a school which has built a foundation of many dignitaries in both Kiboga and Kyangwazi.
Among the 16 Secondary schools, three primary schools, three Institutions, and seven clubs turned out for the event which is ongoing in Kiboga district at New life schools on Friday 13th 2020.
At the same tournament the general secretary of Uganda netball Federation Annet Kisomose has admitted a big blow of KCCA netball club not turning up for this years rally.
“We have really missed KCCA this year, they have been participating every year but this time round they decided to not taking part in rally.
“They are busy in preparations for club championship which is due to take place next week at Lugogo.”
At this years rally, defending champion club category NIC holding remained perfect after three games winning Weyonje communite club 22-18 followed by a narrow win over Police 17-18 and closed day one with a win over UPDF.
For the Scondary school category Defending champions Kitende started with 47-5 win over Day Star christian scondary school Hoima.
Despite a huge loss Day star captain Queen Elizabeth Alinaitwe has been proud just to play against Kitende and happily in waiting to face another giant schools in this national rally.
“Many schools in Hoima do not get this chance to play with Kitende, we have played them and it is a big previlledge really, we have acquired more skills of the game from them, it will help us to up our game.”
Day Star also lost to Kawempe Muslim 11-28.
The games will continue on 14th March 2020 at 8:00am with the Men’s category set to go on the way.
