Preview: Tax collectors Turn Focus To League After Continental Adventure

URA will get their league campaign underway on matchday four after missing the openers due to their continental duty.

The Tax Collectors eliminated Ethiopian Coffee before falling to Al Masry to end their CAF Confederation Cup journey at the second round of the qualifiers.

They shift their focus to the league and many at the club share the thought that they should have won it last season if the league was played to completion.

A lot has changed since then; mainly, Sam Simbwa parted ways with the club as head coach who was replaced by former player Simeone Masaba.

Saidi Kyeyune returned to the club after his short spell in Sudan, while a couple of players including Captain Shafic Kagimu, Steven Mukwala, Ashraf Mandela, Patrick Mbowa were all retained.

And with a couple of new signings like Viane Sekajugo, Living Kabon, returning James Alitho, Derrick Ndahiro etc, URA FC are strong contenders for this league title.

UPDF FC on the other hand, have collected four points from two opening games. They beat Express with a man down, a good result that came after drawing with Onduparaka in Arua.

UPDF saw their game against Mbarara City on Tuesday postponed after a heavy rain with hailstones in Bombo.

They take a short trip to the Arena of Visions in Ndejje in what promises to be a derby of sorts.

URA beat UPDF home and away last season with Steven Mukwala scoring against the Army side in both encounters, a 1-0 win in Bombo and a 2-1 victory in Ndejje.

Mukwala scored a brace in Ndejje last season while Alex Kitata was on target for the Army side.

Match Stats

This will be the nineth meeting between the two sides.

In the past 8 meetings, URA have won 5 matches while UPDF have registered two wins and one draw.

The last time UPDF defeated URA was in 2018 thanks to Dongo Mustapha second half goal.
