DStv Uganda Boosts National Swimming and CANA Zone III Championships

Uganda Swimming Federation have received a sponsorship package of Sh20m from pay TV company DStv, under Multichoice Uganda.

The package will help the Federation in facilitation of the ahead of the Sixth National Swimming and the CANA Zone III Championships.

The National Championship event is due this weekend, November 26-28, at Greenhill Academy Kibuli Campus while the Cana Zone III Championship will get underway on December 9th.

Joan Semanda Kizza, the PR and Communications Manager of MultiChoice Uganda said: “We want to grow the sport of Swimming in Uganda, it’s for this reason that we return for the fourth year on board with the Uganda Swimming Federation to join them and support the Sport of Swimming in Uganda.”

“I would like to commend the Uganda Swimming Federation for carrying these Swimmers and show what Uganda can deliver. We have very good swimmers and we are very excited to see what will come out of the competitions.”

Tonny Kasujja, USF Second Vice President Technical, said that they are very delighted to have DStv Uganda on board. “They are not just sponsoring but giving back to its stakeholders.”

Kasujja said that he is pleased to have the Swimmers back in the water after about a two-year hiatus due to Covid19.

He revealed that they expect over 300 Swimmers and about 30 teams to take part.

He added: “We will follow the Ministry of Healthy SOPs and we have managed to make sure that athletes and service providers have under gone go PCR tests.”

“Given the unfortunate happenings around the city, we have emphasised that the venue will be safe and secure; Police will be around to ensure safety.

“We will not also allow spectators but we are trying as much as possible to ensure that the event is streamed live for the rest of audience outside.”
