Women Super League Preview: Olila High Ready To Rumble, Squad Revealed

Olila High School FC Head Coach Pande Cifu has expressed readiness ahead of the FUFA Women Super League season Kickoff.

Olila who finished fourth in a 5-teams Group Two last season and failed to progress to the next round, will hope for a better outing this time round.

The Soroti-based team will kickoff their season on Sunday 6th February at home to UCU Lady Cardinals at the Olila Ground in Soroti.

During an interview with The-SportsNation, Coach Pande says they have prepared well and ready to rumble.

“Our preparations for this season are going very well and the players are in good shape and I think we are ready to go,” said Pande.

“The challenge is that we may miss the services of Bira Nadunga and Aluka Grace for the first two games who are currently with the national team U20 but the rest of the players are fit and mentally ready.

“We have tried to come up with a good strategy how we should play and win the two games without Aluka and Bira.”

On the season objectives, Pande says their first aim is to make sure that they are not relegated and winning the title.

“Our objectives this season are many, one is first secure Super League place next season and secondly try to see if we can win the league trophy because its the only thing we can pay back to professor Deogracious Olila.”

Olila High have beefed up the middle of the park which wasn’t so compact last Season.

“We have greatly improved in most of the departments most especially in the midfield,” the gaffer adds.

“If we want to win the league we need good midfield that can defend and attack as well so I have tried to improve in the attacking part of it because this was a weaklink in the team.

“At least our Midfielders are also scoring so well in training if they can transfer same play mentality in the games then we are really good to go.”

Commenting on new signings, Pande says they prefer grooming their own young players and so they have promoted some from the Junior team.

“We are a team that doesn’t like going out to look for talents, we always groom our young players and I think the program is so good that it has helped young players also rise”.
