Shaban Opens Up About His Future At Onduparaka

Striker Muhammad Shaban says that will make up his mind on his future at Onduparaka at the end of the season.

The striker who signed a short stay back with the Caterpillars also revealed that he want to use the Arua based side as a stepping stone for a better deal.

Shaban was named FUFA best player of the year 2016 after impressing with Onduparaka. He had helped his side earn top flight promotion in 2015 before leading the side to Uganda Cup final the following year.

He later joined KCCA FC in September 2017 where he spent only one season before joining Moroccan Giants Raja Casablanca.

However, his stint in Morocco proved barren after failing to impress before he returned to Uganda and signed for Vipers SC in 2019.

His time at Vipers bore no fruits either after he was haunted by injuries before he later switched back to Arua.

“I signed a (one-year) contract with the club and its going to end very soon, but I do not know if I am going to renew or not, everything will be decided at the end of the season,” stated Shaban.

“But for now am still an Onduparaka player and if an offer comes, they have to talk to the club first, may be at the end of the season if anything happens of course everyone will know.”

Shaban looks to have regained his mojo and has scored seven League goals so far.

The sharp striker scored late to help Onduparaka beat Tooro United 2-1 and progress to the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

He was one of the 21 Uganda Cranes players that toured Asia and Europe, but the striker is not bothered whether summoned or not to National team.

“Now I cannot complain if I don’t get called on the National team because Coaches know the players who can fit in their system, so if they do not call me, it means I don’t fit in their system.

“But of course what I know is that I will try my level best to score more goals as a striker to get more opportunities outside Uganda and Onduparaka is going to be a stepping stone in that.”
